In 2015, Dr. Jeffrey Bewley became the recipient of two American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) awards. The first was the American Dairy Science Association Cargill Animal Nutrition Young Scientist. The second was the American Dairy Science Association Foundation Scholar Award in Production.
Dr. Bewley was honored with these awards during his tenure as Associate Extension Professor at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Jeffrey Bewley worked toward and received his B.S. in Animal Sciences at the University of Kentucky (1998). He then studied dairy science at UW-Madison under Dr. Roger Palmer, and received his M.S. in Dairy Science in 2000. This was followed by PhD work at Purdue University, where Dr. Bewley focused primarily on the study of Precision Dairy Farming technologies and received his Doctorate in 2008. Bewley taught as extension dairy professor at the University of Kentucky for nearly ten years, and worked with colleagues to establish CowFocused Housing in January 2018. His UK tenure began as an Associate Extension Professor in the UK Department of Animal and Food Sciences in February 2008. He served in this role until 2014, when he began his nearly four-year tenure as Associate Extension Professor.
Currently, Dr. Bewley serves as Alltech Dairy Housing and Analytics Specialist. Jeffrey Bewley has enjoyed a successful, decades-long career in the field of dairy science – both as an academic, and as a professional in the private sector. A longtime teacher Jeffrey Bewley at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Bewley has demonstrated an unwavering passion not only for the field itself, but also for the research and pursuit of innovation needed to move the industry forward for years to come.
